How do I exclude image sizes I don't use?
1 min read · Last updated June 2026
On the Settings tab of Media > SlashImage, under Image Size Exclusions, untick any image size you do not want optimized. SlashImage optimizes every registered size by default; unticking the ones your theme never serves saves credits and time.
Skip a size
- Go to Media > SlashImage and open the Settings tab.
- Find the Image Size Exclusions section. Under Image sizes, you will see a checklist of every size registered on your site, including Original (full size).
- A ticked box means SlashImage optimizes that size. Untick the sizes you want to skip.
- Click Save changes.
The help under the list reads "Smaller sizes save fewer bytes - skip them to conserve credits."
Why this saves credits
SlashImage counts usage by each size it optimizes, not by each image. One uploaded image becomes several sizes, so skipping the sizes you never serve means fewer sizes optimized and fewer credits spent. See How is my quota counted?.
Skip a whole image instead
To leave a specific image untouched in every size, use a keyword exclusion. See How do I stop specific images from being optimized?.
