What's new

Every release of the SlashImage WordPress plugin, newest first.

  1. 1.2.0

    Latest

    Migrate from ShortPixel or Imagify

    New
    • Migrate from another optimizer — the new Tools tab imports optimization data from ShortPixel or Imagify, so their work counts as SlashImage’s and the WebP and AVIF files they already created are served by SlashImage. Scan first to see exactly what will be imported, then migrate. Nothing is re-compressed, and the other plugin’s files, tables and settings are never modified.
    • Once a migration finishes, SlashImage offers to deactivate the plugin you migrated from, so two optimizers aren’t rewriting your pages at the same time.
    • wp slashimage migrate <shortpixel|imagify> [--dry-run] [--batch-size=<n>] runs the same migration from the command line — useful for very large libraries, and it works even if the other plugin has already been removed.
    Improved
    • The “needs an API key” banner no longer appears on the SlashImage settings screen itself, where the API Key field and the status pill already say the same thing.
    Fixed
    • Images referenced with a query string (for example photo.jpg?ver=123) now receive their WebP and AVIF versions. Previously the modern format was requested at a malformed address, so the original file was returned instead — the page looked correct while quietly serving the larger image.
    • Bulk “Restore originals” now reports how many images were skipped and why, instead of counting only the ones it queued.
    • After a bulk action, the result notice is scrolled into view, so acting from the bottom of a long media list no longer leaves the outcome off-screen.
  2. 1.1.1

    Fixed
    • Re-optimizing already optimized images now works correctly. The original is restored from its backup first, so images are never compressed twice. Images without a backup are skipped and reported.
  3. 1.1.0

    New
    • WP-CLI support — manage optimization from the command line with wp slashimage status, optimize [<ids>|--all] [--force], restore [<ids>|--all] [--yes], and cancel. Useful for large libraries and hosts where WP-Cron is disabled.
  4. 1.0.0

    • Bulk optimize your existing media library.
