SlashImage ("SlashImage", "we", "us") builds image optimization tools for WordPress. We care about your privacy and keep what we collect to the minimum needed to run the service. We do not sell your personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we work with.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your name and email address, so we can set up your account and process your payment.
Payment information. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details. Stripe processes them directly.
Your images. We do not store the images you optimize. Images are processed and discarded as soon as the optimization is complete. A processed result may be cached briefly so we can deliver it to you, and is discarded within a few minutes. The only thing we retain is the file names of your last five images, shown in your dashboard so you can see recent activity. In practice the images you optimize are already published publicly on your own website, so this isn't a privacy concern, but we discard them regardless.
Usage and analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site and tools are used (for example, pages visited, browser and device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address). This helps us improve the product.
Free public tool. When you use our free compressor without an account, we apply a daily usage limit based on a one-way hashed version of your IP address. We do not store your raw IP for this, and the hash does not identify you personally.
Logs. Like most services, our servers keep standard technical logs (such as request times and error information) to operate and secure the service.
How we use your information
- To provide and operate SlashImage (optimizing your images, running your account and dashboard).
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send you account and service emails (such as sign-in confirmations and billing notices).
- To understand and improve how the product is used.
- For advertising, we may run ads through Google Ads and Reddit Ads, including showing our ads to people who have visited our site. No personally identifiable information is shared with these advertisers. Only the anonymous signals their advertising pixels use.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for essential functions (like keeping you signed in) and for analytics and advertising (Google Analytics, and the Google and Reddit advertising pixels). You can control cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out tools, and adjust ad personalization in your Google and Reddit account settings.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with:
- Stripe: our payment processor, to handle subscriptions and payments
- Google Analytics: usage analytics
- Google Ads and Reddit Ads: advertising, with no personally identifiable information shared (only the anonymous signals their advertising pixels use)
To run the service we also rely on trusted hosting, database, and email-delivery providers. These operate on our own accounts, process data only as needed to provide their service to us, and don't use your data for their own purposes. We remain responsible for your data on this infrastructure. A list of these providers is available on request.
How long we keep data
- Account information is kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your associated personal data.
- Images are not retained. They are discarded immediately after processing (cached results within a few minutes). We keep only the file names of your five most recent images, for your dashboard.
- Analytics and log data are kept for a limited period, in line with the providers above.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal information. Deleting your account removes your associated personal data. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have additional rights, including to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing. To make a request, email us at [privacy@slashimage.com].
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
International processing
Our providers operate in the United States and the European Union, so your information may be processed in those regions.
Children
SlashImage is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age required by their local law to consent to this kind of service.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the "last updated" date above and, for significant changes, let you know.
