Frequently Asked Questions
Which image formats can SlashImage create?
SlashImage optimizes JPEG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF, and for delivery it also generates WebP and AVIF copies of every optimized image (both on by default). Other types like GIF, SVG, and PDF are left untouched.
Full guideWill optimization change how my images look?
For normal use, no. Optimization is visually lossless, so the result looks the same to the eye even though it is not a byte-for-byte copy, and a Compression mode setting (Lossy, Glossy, or Lossless) lets you trade size for fidelity.
Full guideDoes it remove my image's EXIF and metadata?
Yes. SlashImage strips EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata from every optimized image by design, which shrinks files and avoids leaking data like GPS location. Your ICC color profile is always kept so colors stay accurate.
Full guideHow do I connect my API key and the WordPress plugin?
Install the SlashImage plugin, open Media > SlashImage, paste your master key, and click Connect. Once the pill reads Connected, new uploads optimize automatically.
Full guideWhat happens when I hit my monthly limit?
Optimizing pauses until your allowance resets, and everything you have already optimized keeps serving as normal. Upgrade your plan for a higher allowance, which takes effect right away, or wait for the monthly reset.
Full guideHow much smaller will my images get?
It depends almost entirely on the source: un-optimized exports, screenshots, and phone photos shrink a lot, while images that were already compressed have little left to remove. The SlashImage column and the Bulk Optimize page show your real savings.
